COOKEVILLE--Previously, the Patriot Punk Network uncovered that Kwik Kash Pawn of Cookeville, TN had lost their FFL (Federal Firearms License) after a plethora of repeat issues that spanned the course of a decade. Today, we bring you more details about 2 of the more recent infractions.
The pawn shop, owned and operated by Jackie Farris, Sheriff Eddie Farris's father, had infractions on every visit from the ATF. The two we will be discussing tonight are among the more serious infractions.
According to reports obtained through a FOIA request with the ATF, four Glock conversion switches were recovered as part of an investigation into the website CBTFORCE.com Glock Switches, or "trigger sears" as they are sometimes called, are defined by the ATF as:
Machinegun Conversion Devices (MCDs) are defined as machineguns under the National Firearms Act, even when not installed. MCDs include traditional “Drop In Auto Sears” (DIASs), which are designed for use on AR-type firearms, and more recently developed “switches,” which are designed for use on certain semiautomatic pistols. MCDs are easily integrated with semiautomatic firearms to illegally convert them to fire automatically.
These switches have even been mentioned by Senator Chuck Grassley in a letter to the Customs and Border Patrol because a large portion of them come from China and Russia. "I write today about concerning reports that Chinese and Russian companies are manufacturing and selling deadly “switches” or “auto sears” to buyers in the U.S. with little effort from foreign authorities to prohibit their sale while sellers have used deceptive distribution practices to evade detection in the U.S."
The documents obtained from the ATF are heavily redacted, it appears the switches were turned into someone else prior to them being picked up by the ATF. No evidence exists that the devices were being sold, but we can't think of what other reason a pawn shop and gun store would have for possessing 4 of them if they did not intend to sell them. Owning one, even uninstalled could land you with federal charges.

Perhaps even more concerning than lego-sized machine-gun-makers, is what was found just 1 month prior during an ATF visit--OBLITERATED Serial Numbers on a shotgun."[B]oth serial numbers on the receiver and barrel lug appear to have been altered," reads the report. "[P]ossibly, with the use of a number steel stamp die punch set."
Never mind that this same pawn shop has been cited for failure to accurately maintain inventory, selling firearms to people who live in other states, and numerous other violations. The only reason ANYONE would have a firearm with an OBLITERATED serial number is to make the firearm untraceable.
It is also virtually IMPOSSIBLE to legally buy/pawn a firearm with obliterated serial numbers from someone unknowingly, as documenting the serial numbers is a mandatory part of both the intake and the sales process.
The totality of circumstances leads us to believe there is more than simple mistakes and bad business practices going on here. Intentionally OBLITERATED serial numbers, and automatic conversion kits for pistols presumably ordered from a Chinese website (CBTFORCE) are things often found when investigating gang crimes, not when shopping at the Sheriff's father's Pawn Shop.
