OVERTON COUNTY – In March, the Patriot Punk Network exposed red flags with the mileage reports of an Overton County Assistant District Attorney. The Comptroller is now said to be investigating.
Last week, investigators from the Office of the Comptroller of the Treasury seized the laptop used by Assistant District Attorney Jessie Mayberry. It is believed that the laptop was taken in connection with an ongoing investigation into mileage reimbursements Mayberry submitted in 2024, though the Comptroller has not responded to our multiple requests for an update.
Tuesday while in Juvenile Court in Overton County, a specific law needed to be queried online. Witnesses say ADA Mayberry jokingly said she would do it, but that her computer was taken by the Comptroller.
The Patriot Punk Network spoke to a source who claims the device was taken from the Livingston District Attorney’s Office sometime last week. We have also learned that the Comptroller has conducted interviews surrounding the matter.
Additionally, rumors have circulated that ADA Mayberry has been removed from some cases, but we are unable to confirm if this true, and if it’s related to the Comptroller’s probe.
We reached out to ADA Mayberry in an attempt to get her side of the story, but once again she did not respond to our request for comment.
We are unsure if ADA Mayberry has retained legal representation. At this time, it is not believed that the investigation is criminal in nature. That is usually at the discretion of the District Attorney.
The Comptroller is the organization charged with investigating reports of Waste, Fraud, & Abuse in Tennessee government. They publish the findings of their investigation on their website, and will usually forward their findings to the local District Attorney. In this case, the mileage forms were signed off on by the local District Attorney, Bryant Dunaway. Therefore, any prosecution would likely be handled by a pro tem.
