Knoxville police arrested 53-year-old Samuel Hamilton after tracking him down on North Central Street—the same street where he was wanted for two car burglaries and stealing a security camera.

Most people try to avoid being in the camera shot altogether but this guy said, "not me! I'll just take the camera!"

Which also means police might've had to put in extra work finding the suspect accused of stealing the very thing that helps police find suspects.

Officers located Hamilton, and after questioning, charged him with aggravated burglary involving items stolen from a Central Street home.

In his posession, he had drug paraphernalia and items that appeared stolen from vehicles.

Stealing the security camera might have been a smart move… if this criminal actually understood how these cameras store the footage nowadays.

Smart guy!

Round 2

At the Longview Rec Center in Spring Hill, early voters are flipping out as they suspect shenanigans with the voting machines.

One voter reported that when she attempted to vote for Jerri Green, the machine kept switching to Marsha Blackburn.

Lauren Pinkston says voters in Williamson, Madison, Wilson and Shelby counties have reported selecting one candidate and seeing another displayed, and she’s calling for these flippin' machines to be inspected and tested, and for the findings to be made public.

Good luck with that.

However, the crack team of internet sleuths on Instagram appears to have already completed the investigation.

We’ve got allegations of Republican rigging, claims Elon hacked the machines—the whole 9 yards.

But there’s a difference between “my screen showed the wrong selection” and “we have established an election-stealing conspiracy.”

Seems the only qualification you need to become a cybersecurity expert is the ability to flip between Instagram and Threads.

Dolly Parton’s sister, Stella, says she went back three times to correct her selection at Hermitage Library in Nashville.

State elections coordinator Mark Goins says, “It’s not a vote flipping situation. It’s normally like an unintended touch that they may not even realize.”

A bad touch, you say?

Problem is, what percent of voters just blow through it like they're accepting the terms and conditions?

So we’ve got voters saying something went wrong, officials offering a convenient explanation, and social media ready to flip the entire table.

But you can't investigate a touchscreen by angrily touching a different screen.

I'm looking at you, comment mob.

Goins identifies three opportunities to verify your choices: the selection screen, the review screen, and the paper record before you cast it.

So, if something is wrong… don't flip out.

Notify a poll worker or the county election commission before casting the ballot.

The word here is verify, folks.

That's two rounds down and one and tell me how many times you tried to Heart this video before it registered your response?

Round 3

Sumner County is choosing a new lawyer to advise its government—and facing questions about whether officials followed the law themselves.

Commissioner Jeremy Mansfield alleges a hiring committee privately discussed the applicants and chose Michael Begley before the mayor announced the pick.

Tennessee law allows private interviews for certain government jobs—but requires the discussion about whom to hire, and the vote, to happen in public.

Private interviews are allowed. But protocol doesn't appear to have been strictly followed in this case.

Mansfield says three people applied, and the mayor emailed commissioners October 19 announcing Begley’s selection.

The full county commission still has to approve the hire.

So was the committee’s choice made publicly—or are taxpayers just being invited to watch the receipt print?

That was your TN news roundup.
